ZOTTO is an immersive theater Japanese folktale in VR layered with magical realism, following three generations of Japanese women in America. Participants uncover the hidden history of Japanese American incarceration during World War II and its lasting effects, emphasizing that remembering is an act of resistance and that we are responsible for the kind of ancestors we choose to be.
Originally premiered in Denver live at Sakura Square as a production by Japanese Arts Network (JA-NE), Theatre Artibus, and Luster Productions. Preserved and adapted for VR by Steven Harmon in partnership with JA-NE.
